What is prescription sunglasses?
UV radiation is never good for your eyes, but especially not if you usually wear reading glasses. The lens actually amplifies the sun's radiation. Compare it to a magnifying glass, with which you can even start a fire if you hold it in the sun. Extra UV protection is therefore essential to protect your eyes, but how do you choose the right prescription sunglasses?

A prescription sunglasses is both sunglasses and a visual aid in one. It not only protects your eyes from sunlight but also helps you see better. The glasses have tinted lenses and a prescription tailored to your eye condition. We distinguish between nearsightedness and farsightedness. Nearsighted means you can't see clearly far away but see well up close. To see well at a distance, you need glasses with negative power, also called minus power. If you are farsighted, you see well at a distance but have trouble reading small print, for example. In that case, you need plus power. A sunglasses with plus power is therefore also called reading sunglasses or reading sun glasses.
